程度副词是用来描述动词、形容词或其它副词的程度或强度的副词。许多以-ly结尾的副词都是程度副词，如”fairly”（相当地）、“pretty”（相当地）、“rather”（相当地）、“quite”（非常地）、“very”（非常地）、“much”（非常地）、“too”（太，过于）、“greatly”（极其）、“almost”（几乎）、“nearly”（几乎）、“half”（一半地）、“highly”（高度地）、“awfully”（极其）、“deeply”（深深地）、“partly”（部分地）、“perfectly”（完美地）、“really”（真正地）等。程度副词通常位于动词之后，但有时也可以位于主语与动词之间或句首。个别程度副词（主要是quite和rather）还可修饰名词。
- He is quite tall.（他很高。）
- She sings beautifully.（她唱得很好听。）
- The food is extremely spicy.（这食物非常辣。）
- The movie was really boring.（这部电影真的很无聊。）
- The restaurant was quite busy last night. 昨晚餐厅很忙。 (quite 修饰形容词)
- I’m rather tired after the long flight. 长途飞行后我相当累。(rather 修饰形容词)
- It’s quite a long way to the station. 到车站还有很长的路。(quite 修饰名词)
- It’s rather a difficult question to answer. 这是一个很难回答的问题。(rather 修饰名词)
