基本用法
- 形容词比较级＋than：
- Jack is taller than Tom.（杰克比汤姆高。）
- The weather is colder than yesterday.（天气比昨天冷。）
- 名词+than ：
- Lucy spent more money on books than her sister.（露西在书上花的钱比她妹妹多。）
- Tom is a clever student than Peter.（与皮特相比，汤姆是个更聪明的学生。）
- 不定冠词/零冠词+形容词比较级+名词+than：
- Tom is a more efficient worker than Jack.（汤姆是一个比杰克更高效的工人。）
- This book is a better choice than that one.（这本书比那本更好。）
- 比较级＋of词组：
- Lucy is the taller of the two girls.（露西是两个女孩中更高的那个。）
- Jack is the more active of the twins.（这对双胞胎中，Jack是更活跃的那个。）
- 比较级形式表达最高级含义：比较级＋than any other+单数名词：（比其他任何……都……）
- Lucy is taller than any other girl in her class.（露西比班上其他女孩都高。）
- This book is more interesting than any other book I’ve read before.（这本书比我以前读过的任何一本书都更有趣。）
特殊用法
- and more…（越来越……）
- Lucy becomes more and more beautiful.（露西变得越来越漂亮。）
- The situation is getting worse and worse.（情况变得越来越糟。）
- …, the…（越……就越……）
- The harder we work, the more progress we will make.（我们工作得越努力，就会取得越大的进步。）
- The more you practice, the better you will be at it.（你练习得越多，就会做得越好。）
- 比较级前可加much,a lot, far, even, still, a little, no, any等表示程度的词来修饰。
- He is much taller than his brother.（他比他哥哥高得多。）
- She is a little more intelligent than her classmates.（她比她的同学们聪明一点。）
- more和less用作代词，与某些可等级名词搭配：
- He is more/less of a sportsman than his best friend. =He is more/less sportsmanlike than his best friend.（与他最好的朋友相比，他更像/更少是一名运动员。）
- She is more/less of a singer than an actress. =She is more/less singer-like than actress-like.（与其说她是一名演员，不如说她更像是一名歌手。）
- 表示倍数的比较级用法： 倍数+ the + size / length / depth /height +of =倍数+ as +形容词原级+ as =倍数+比较级+than
- The new building is three times the height of the old one. （新楼房是旧楼房高度的三倍）
- This room is twice as big as that one. （这个房间是那个房间大小的两倍）
